Sarah Leigh Beason

Hello!

Full disclosure: I have always been rather perplexed on how to write

a good cover letter. All the research and advice I’ve received on what

it should be like has only resulted in stilted unnatural sounding letters.

So, instead of that, you’re getting this. Apologies.

Hi! I’m Sarah Leigh. It’s pronounced like the baked goods company

(Sara Lee), but my parents promise me that I was named after relatives

and the similarities to a food product company are a coincidence.

However, because of this, I have my own jingle! Check it out here.

I was homeschooled from Kindergarten to 12th grade, then attended

a liberal arts college and now hold BA degrees in Theatre Arts and

Vocal Performance.

The past several years, I’ve been working consistently throughout the U.S. I love to travel for work! Having grown up with the lake effect snow of Michigan, warmth is especially appealing to me. But no worries, I’m hearty. I’ve worked in Amish country, on a moving train, and in the big city. I can make it work just about anywhere now!

A few tidbits about me: I have spent the last 7 years working in regional and educational theatre. I’ve played both character roles and ingenues and enjoy them both! I hold BA degrees in Theatre Arts and Vocal Performance. I’ve worked in high school education. I play piano, flute, and violin. My personality is best described as 50% Leslie Knope, 50% April Ludgate, but also somehow 100% Hermione Granger. I love The West Wing and The Crown.

Thanks for reading!

Best, Sarah Leigh

As Babette in Beauty and the Beast

Now, time to answer the two questions that seem to be staples of any job interview, first date, or random online conversation.

"So, tell me about yourself."

My top Gallup strength test strengths are Strategic, Restorative, Relator, Intellection, Communication, and Determination. I tend to be both introspective and outgoing. I thrive when solving problems or overcoming a challenge. Organizing excites me. I enjoy communicating, thinking, discussing, philosophizing, having my mindset challenged by a good point, and deepening relationships. I enjoy learning. I miss taking music theory classes. Five fictional characters I relate to are Hermione Granger, Anne Shirley, Elle Woods, Peggy Carter, and Marie from the Aristocats.

"What do you enjoy doing in your freetime?"
I have been rediscovering freetime since I have made what used to be my hobbies (theatre and music) my work (What a life, amiright?). I enjoy reading fiction and biographies. My current television favorites are The Crown, The Good Wife, and The West Wing, Parks and Rec, and Schitt's Creek. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, live jazz, coffee, watching football and baseball with my dad, and good food. Sometimes I pull out my flute or violin or sit down at the piano and thank God that the hours I invested practicing back in high school are still paying off. I hope to spend time in the near future continuing to satisfy my interest in scenic design and maybe even model and draft this idea that's been bouncing around in my head.
